Thomas Creek, Up the creek, Extreme IPA

Smells:  apple, citris, cinnamon.  Tastes: heavy hoppiness and alcohol (almost medicinal), caramel.  Kinda thick on the tongue.  I'm going to have a hard time getting through this one.  I loved the smell though.  It really got my hopes up.  The heavy alcohol was a big let down though.  I guess that's where the "extreme" comes from in this IPA.

This could have been one helluva brew, but the overwhelming alcohol kills it.

Brooklyn, Brown Ale

Beautiful walnut brown color.  Not much light shows through.  Crisp bite without a ton of hops.  This is another Brooklyn that impresses me.  I must seek out more from this brewhouse.

Goose Island, Honker's Ale

Brown with a little copper.  Malty and nutty with hint of hop.  Very even and smooth.  Not as bitter as I was expecting from an English Bitter.  It feels like they could have had something extraordinary here if they'd gone just a few more steps.

Better than your average brew, but not by much.

Founders, Dirty Bastard

Very cloudy reddish-brownish-red/brown.

I'd try to describe the smell, but I have a sinus infection.

Mouthfeel is medium body approaching a full creamy texture.

Taste is kinda unique.  Imagine a well-rounded light stout + sweetness + a bit of alcohol (scotch, says the bottle).  The sweetness reminds me of maple or maybe molasses.  The alcohol is there, but doesn't get in the way too much.

I think it's ok.  I should try it again sometime when i don't have a cold.  I think i'd like it more without the alcohol.

Gaffel, Kolsch

Kolsch?  What's a Kolsch?

This is the first import I've had in a long time.  Very pale in color.  Yummy, malty, bready, yet light.  A medium bitter bite on the tail makes you want more.

The dude at 5 Points Growlers said this is a good drink for this time of year and he was right.  It went down easy and was quite refreshing.  My limit of one pint per night kept me from pooring another one.

Good stuff.

Blue Moon, Agave Nectar Ale

Dang that's sweet.  Seriously sweet.  Almost off-puttingly sweet at first.  But, about halfway though I was used to it.  Once you get through the agave sweetness it's pretty good.  A well-rounded wheat ale.

Yeh... the further I get through this pint, the more I like it.  Mhm.  That's good.

If I was in a better mood I'm sure I could more throuroughly describe what I like about it, but, oh well.

Good beer.  Unique experience.  Will try again.

Killian's, Irish Red

Neat color - reddish copper.  I've never seen this color before.  I think I'll call it "ropper".

Nothing interesting about the smell.  Mostly malt.

Tastes unimpressive.  Malty and... well... there's a bit of honey.  I wouldn't mind having a few of these and a brat or two with my bro's (if i had bro's), but not worth going out of the way to find it.
